Historic Windmill Accommodation

The Windmill is a Grade II listed 18th-century building, over 230 years old and the last remaining windmill in Scarborough. It offers self-catering apartments and room-only options. Accommodations include the Balcony Suite with 360-degree sea views accessed by 38 external steps, the Madeline Suite with sleigh bed and walk-in shower, and ground-floor Cornflower Cottages with en-suite bathrooms. All rooms feature flat-screen TVs, DVD players, and kitchens with induction hobs, full-size ovens, and dishwashers.

Windmill Dining Room Breakfast

Guests receive a home-cooked breakfast each morning in the windmill dining room. Options include full English breakfast, fresh fruit, yogurt, and cereals. The dining room displays the Borough Map of 1880 on the wall.

Courtyard Setting and Views

The property sits at the end of a peaceful cul-de-sac with a small car park. The Balcony Suite provides exclusive access to an outdoor walkway with deck chairs for sea views. A shared lounge is available for all guests.

Central Scarborough Location

The Windmill is a 5-minute walk from Scarborough Town Centre, Scarborough Train Station, and Stephen Joseph Theatre. It is 1.5 km from Scarborough Castle and The Spa Scarborough. The seafront features amusement arcades, ice cream parlors, and shellfish stalls.

Check-in and Payment

Check-in begins at 2 PM on arrival day. Payment for accommodation is due at check-in, with any additional services payable upon departure. The property does not accept pets. Children under 12 can be accommodated in specific cottages.

“Staying in a carefully restored windmill presents a singular experience; add to this the property's history reaching back over five centuries, and the result is compelling. I'm particularly drawn to the rooftop balcony suite, promising sea views and uniquely designed rooms combining luxury with a relaxed atmosphere. For families or couples seeking something beyond the ordinary, this should be high on the list.”

a windmill dream

town centre refreshing starts
The location near the town centre made exploring easy. the spacious double room included a travel cot. A very thoughtful touch. i found the showers spacious too. hot water with great pressure made for quick, refreshing starts to the day.
i noticed the stairs to the balcony have very old wooden floor slats. walking around a third of it was all i could manage, a little disappointing. i thought i would be inside the windmill itself.
